Frequently Asked Questions

Is the cottage heated?

Yes all heating is included in the rental. The Cottage has a very high tech biomass heating system that provides hot water and central heating, keeping the cottage toasty and warm. The guests have complete control of the thermostat and each room can be controlled by valves on the radiators. The downstairs bedroom has underfloor heating. Get the log burner going and you will not be cold!

Can I bring a dog?

Yes we welcome dogs for a small additional cleaning fee. We just ask that they are never left unattended in the cottage, or are in a crate if you go out. They do not go upstairs or in the downstairs bedroom. Please be aware that whilst the cottage garden is fenced, we do at times have sheep and cows in the field behind and any dogs must be kept under control.

Do you have WiFi?

Yes, we have super fast fibre broadband and wifi throughout the cottage and in the garden areas. All guests can access this free of charge.

Can I walk to a pub?

Yes. But the closest pub, The Jervis is about 1 mile away across VERY muddy fields. Plenty of other options if you want to make a nice walk of it or a short drive. Please check out our Things to do & places to eat page for more information.

Can I get a Taxi?

Yes, we have a couple of companies that come to the cottage. But we advice booking is essential.

Can we order take away delivery?

A couple of companies in Leek will now deliver, but you have limited choice. Mehek curry house just 1.5 miles away is excellent to eat in or 20% discount on take away (no delivery).

Can we get a Supermarket Delivery

Yes. Most supermarkets deliver to the cottage. We just ask you plan it for after your arrival as we can't confirm we will be about to let them in.

Do I need a car?

Whilst it is possible to travel to local train stations and get a taxi to the cottage we are about 5 miles from any shops and public transport is non-existent . So if you are not happy to walk everywhere we would recommend a car for exploring the area.

Do you supply logs?

On arrival you will find a basket of kindling and logs for you to use. We then have a supply for you to help yourself to, we just ask you leave the money for any extra logs when you leave.

I have an electric car, can I charge it?

Yes. We have a 7kw PodPoint charger for you convenience. Please see the Electric Car Charging page for more information. We do not allow charging using a standard 13amp plug.

What is included in the price?

On arrival you will have a welcome pack of wine, eggs, milk & other treats. The kitchen is also stocked with, instant coffee, tea bags, sugar, salt & pepper and cooking oil. All bedlinen, bath towels, hand towels and tea towels. All cleaning products, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, washing machine tablets, hand soaps and moisturiser. Matches, kindling and logs. All electricity (except EV Charging), all heating and wifi.

We have a baby?

If needed we can provide a travel cot with sheets. We also have a highchair and a stair gate at the bottom of the stairs. There is also a box of toys and games for little ones.

What is in the lounge?

The lounge is well stocked, with a smart TV, connected to Netflix and other on demand TV. A hifi system, with preloaded music, that can also stream music from your phone. A selection of books, DVD's and games to play.
