The Cottage

Ford Wetley Cottage is situated about half a mile along a dead end road, outside the picture postcard hamlet of Ford, an old Quaker hamlet set on a pretty river.  Away from the main house and secluded by trees, in its own lawned garden and surrounded by rolling fields, in fact you can’t see another property. It’s the perfect place to stay if you want some privacy and seclusion!

The Holiday Cottage has three large bedrooms and can sleep 8 very comfortably, each bed with luxurious toppers for your comfort. We have two travel cots & a high chair too for your little ones.  On the ground floor there is a king size bed bedroom & en-suite shower room, ideal for an elderly relative.  Upstairs there is a double bed bedroom, plus a pull out low single bed ideal for a child, with an en-suite bathroom and a family bedroom with a double and a single bed with en-suite shower room.  The oak beamed farmhouse kitchen is well stocked with a electric hob and oven, fridge freezer, dish washer, washing machine, microwave, toaster & kettle, and has a dining table. Across the flag stone entrance hall is the spacious lounge, again with oak beams, exposed stone walls, real log burning stove, comfy leather sofas, solid oak floor, TV with Digital Satellite & DVD player and an extensive selection of games, books and toys. We have a Sony Juke Box Hi-Fi, this plays CD’s, Radio, you can dock your smart phone. It also has a hard disk which we have put over 4000 songs on for you to enjoy.  We also have free wifi.  There is a small step into the cottage and a step down to the ground floor bedroom, making it the perfect place for those not able to climb lots of stairs.  The cottage is very warm and cosy and has full central heating throughout, along with the log burning stove.  We supply all bed linen, tea towels, hand & bath towels. On arrival you have a welcome pack of wine, free range hen eggs, milk, and a selection of jams and nibbles. There is also Eco washing up liquid, dish washer tabs, washing powder and Molton Brown hand soap and moisturiser in each bathroom. As well as a small supply of tea & coffee for you arrival, oil, sugar, salt & pepper.

The cottage enjoys its own formal garden and is set in an acre of woodland which you’re welcome to explore, including two little brooks with waterfalls. This area is fenced off for our younger visitors safety. We have a large deck which over looks the stream, the perfect place to sit and enjoy the sound of nature. On the deck is our garden cabin “The Hive“, this now allows all year enjoyment of the garden. Sit with the doors wide open in the summer for some shade or a little bit of warmth in the evening, or snuggle down with a throw and a good book. The Hive has created additional living space, so if the kids are watching a movie the adults can retreat or if the kids want to dance and play music send them out there! There is a wooden garden table and chairs with sun parasol, an additional picnic bench and swing chair to enjoy. BBQ and fire pit to keep you warm in the evenings.  If you are bringing your bikes, there is a secure place to store them and ample parking for at least three cars. (Bike Storage arranged in advance)

For a £30 dog supplement (£15 for weekends) we welcome well behaved dogs by  prior arrangement.  Registered assistant dogs are free of charge.  Dogs are not to be left alone in the cottage, unless in a locked crate and must sleep downstairs away from the bedrooms and furniture.  We have very high standards and want to keep our bedrooms pet hair free.  No puppies (under 1 year).
